Interesting idea but as noted in the FAQ, due to the fact that the iPhone OS does not currently support background processes the application or one of its “helper” applications needs to be run manually i.e. by the thief and as such the only way they could do this is if PIN mode is not used (!).

Worth another look post iPhone OS 3.0 release but save your money until then.
